Your Recreational Diving Experience

Are you already a certified diver and want to explore the best seabed in the area? In Puraventura, in collaboration with Dive Academy Santa Pola (PADI 5 Star Center), we offer you a wide range of daily diving excursions.

We make dives adapted to your level in a great variety of spots, always looking for the best weather and sea conditions to guarantee you an unforgettable experience.

How are the dives?

We will discuss your level of experience during the booking, as we choose the spot according to your certification (some spots are not suitable for Open Water level) and the sea conditions. You can choose between two modalities:

Dives from the beach:

We have dive sites located both north and south of Santa Pola and we will choose the dive site according to the diver’s level of experience and weather conditions.
*We recommend the beach dive option if you have been out of the water for more than a year or if you feel you need more confidence before heading to the Tabarca Marine Reserve.

Boat dives:

For those who choose the boat dive option, we meet at our dive center. Once we have checked the equipment, we will go to our boat which is moored in the harbor a few meters from the dive center. The boat trip to the island of Tabarca usually takes about 20 minutes. After the first dive we will take a break. After the surface interval we will head to the second dive site.

We will discuss your experience level during the booking, as some dive sites on the island of Tabarca are not suitable for Open Water certified divers.

Discover our dive sites

Get to know Tabarca, the first marine reserve in Spain and the best island in the Mediterranean.

Where is it?

Tabarca Island is located 6km or 3 nautical miles off the coast of Santa Pola (Alicante). Very close to our dive center, it took us only about 20 minutes to get there in our boat.

What can we see?

The marine reserve has an immense biodiversity where we usually see an abundance of giant groupers, schools of thousands of barracudas, rays, stingrays, manta rays, lobsters, cicadas, octopus, starfish, cuttlefish, sponges, conger eels, moray eels and plenty of soft coral. It is a paradise on earth.

Diving in Cabo de Palos has a spectacular topography where there are many rock corridors, slopes and some caves. We will be able to discover the nooks and crannies of the area where a wide variety of marine life is hidden.

What can we see?

Here we can see soft coral, hard coral, rays, moray eels, octopus, cuttlefish, mojarras, nudibrachs and much more.
We can also dive and see a large metal structure at about 5 meters. This is the remains of a sunken crane. In the surrounding sandy area we often see rays, manta rays and torpedoes.
There is a small island, where we can usually see schools of thousands of bogas and their predators hunting. It is a spectacle worth seeing. We can also venture through a couple of tunnels.

Immerse yourself in a natural aquarium of caves and natural pools. It highlights its former World War II Magnetic Field, with giant concrete pillars converted into an artificial reef (between 12 and 28 meters deep).

What can we see?

We can see many moray eels, sea swallows, octopus, barracudas, schools of thousands of bogas, sea eagles and much more.
We also have the pleasure of enjoying a Magnetic Field placed at the time of World War II where submarines went to remove ionic charges and now it has become a wonderful artificial reef.
They are a group of giant concrete pillars, the first Magnetic Field is about 12-13 meters deep and the second Magnetic Field ranges from 19 meters to 28 meters.

The maximum depth of this dive is 9 meters and hides several surprises that only Cala de la Palmera has and we will be happy to show them to you.

What can we see?

The orography of this dive site makes it an ideal environment for many types of species, as there are rocky areas, sandy bottom and large meadows of Posidonia oceanica. In addition, there is a jetty on the left side that helps to keep the sea calm in this area. You can see octopus, cuttlefish, lots of medium and small life, torpedo rays among other things.

* Important

You can choose the site but we will always go where the wind and the sea allow us to have the best dive, that is to say it is tied to weather conditions above all.

What is NOT included and what are the extra prices?

To give you more flexibility, equipment is not included in the base price. The rates are:
